Q:Hey, I've just been flicking through page after page of your Tumblr, and watching some of your videos. Great stuff! I've wanted to go raw for a long time but haven't committed myself to it yet. I was wondering... how much do you spend (roughly) on food? I'm from the UK, things feel pretty expensive here and the freshness of the fruit and vegetables can vary.
Hey jameyman… First off, thanks for pointing out that my link was broken!
I probably spend about $150-200 a week, or ~$30 a day on food… It’s possible to do it cheaper, but my budget allows that. I’m not familiar with the fruit and veg scene over in the U.K. Do you guys have farmer’s markets? Usually produce is cheaper and better quality when it comes from local farms/growers. Bananas and dates are good staple foods. I make a banana, date, spinach and OJ smoothie almost every day. Oh yeah, this whole thing will be a lot easier if you have a blender and a juicer! It can be expensive to switch over to raw, but it’s totally worth it. Health = wealth. It sucks that mcdonald and burger king and all that have sandwiches for $.99… shoot, $.99 won’t even get you a head of lettuce at the store :( its unfortunate that it can be expensive… but look for farmers markets, keep up with what’s on sale in the produce section of your supermarket, try to find deals. you may have to sacrifice, but it’s worth it!
